Why I’m taking part

I’m taking part in the Manly Surf Lifeline Classic to raise funds for suicide prevention. It’s a cause I care about, particularly after losing a colleague and a friend to suicide in the last three years. Their absence is a reminder of how important it is that people have support during difficult moments.

I’ll be out there surfing to support the work Lifeline does every day. Every contribution helps make sure someone in crisis isn’t facing things alone.

I would also like to take this opportunity to say that we need more research into health across all stages of life for both men and women, including how hormones, the gut, the brain, and even the sun’s influence on our circadian rhythm all interact and affect our mental health. Better understanding in these areas could make a real difference.
