“For anyone struggling in silence — we’re here. You don’t have to do this by yourself.” - Richard, Crisis Supporter
Right now, someone in our Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore community may be carrying more than they can bear — overwhelmed by grief, anxiety, financial pressure, loneliness or suicidal thoughts, unsure who to turn to.
For someone under that kind of pressure, hope can begin with a single phone call — a moment of human connection with a trained Crisis Supporter who listens without judgement, helps ease distress and supports callers towards a safer next step.
At our Balgowlah Crisis Support Centre, local Crisis Supporters are here to listen, form a connection and help ease the pressure — day and night. Last year alone, we answered more than 46,000 calls. And right now, as rising costs, isolation and uncertainty place extra pressure on our community, demand has never been higher.
Your donation helps trained Crisis Supporters at Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli be here for anyone who reaches out — because no one should carry their burdens alone.

"When people are overwhelmed and in crisis, they need that human connection" - Richard, Crisis Supporter
When Richard’s family faced the devastating suicide of his brother-in-law, Andrew, he saw first-hand how deeply isolation and loneliness can affect someone.
“Andrew was living overseas and obviously had a moment where he was without connection and entirely alone,” Richard says. “That then led our family unit to think about people in crisis much more.”
That experience led Richard to train as a Crisis Supporter with Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli.
Today, he volunteers at our Balgowlah Crisis Support Centre, supporting people through some of their toughest moments.
“People in crisis come from every walk of life,” Richard says. “From quite young to the elderly… from people living alone to those in families… people from across the community need help.”
When someone is overwhelmed, support begins with human connection — a calm voice, without judgement, helping them feel less alone and find a safer next step.
“Crisis can be really lonely,” Richard says. “Having somebody… by your side, working with you to find a path forward is really critical.”
Your donation helps Crisis Supporters like Richard be here when someone reaches out for help.
