What is the Ocean Rockpool Tour?

The Ocean Rock Pool Tour, Proudly Supporting Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli returns to Sydney’s iconic Northern Beaches, inviting swimmers and community members of all abilities to take on a unique coastal challenge while raising vital funds for local Lifeline services.

Celebrating the spectacular heritage of Sydney’s ocean rockpools—this event blends personal challenge, community spirit, and charitable impact. Participants choose their own pace and distance as they swim the 14 iconic ocean rockpools scattered along the Northern Beaches coastline.

Bus Participants: For all of those registered for the complete tour, meet at 6:45am at the 7th Day Brewery, 9 Powells Road, Brookvale.

DIY Participants: For all of those registered to Do It Your Way, feel free to start at Palm Beach rockpool anytime. Whether you plan to run, cycle or drive, we will send you a full itinerary for the day, so you can plan your day around key activities taking place along the coast.

Rockpools: Palm Beach, Whale Beach, Avalon, Bilgola, Newport, Mona Vale, North Narrabeen, Collaroy, Dee Why, North Curl Curl, South Curl Curl, Freshwater, Queenscliff, Fairy Bower Manly

After Party: 7th Day Brewery, Brookvale, from approximately 5pm

The Cause

Where do the funds raised go?

While the name ‘Lifeline’ is national, Lifeline centres (like Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli) are locally run. Funds raised directly support the mental health of the Northern Beaches. By taking part in (or donating to) the Ocean Rockpool Tour, you'll be making a real difference. 

The Ocean Rockpool Tour raises funds for Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli. These funds are used in our local crisis support and suicide prevention services right here in our local community.

Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli provides local face-to-face services including counselling, support groups, suicide bereavement support, financial counselling, social support for the aged, and emergency response to community events across the Mosman Council and Northern Beaches Council areas. 

Are donations tax deductable?

Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

How can I take part in the Ocean Rockpool Tour?

Simply visit the website and follow the Register Now link. 

There are two options to choose from:

Sign up to complete the full Ocean Rockpool Tour Experience – $120

Enjoy the full experience with tour bus transport, visits to all 14 rockpools, food, refreshments, and a commemorative event T-shirt.

Sign up to Do It Your Way – $39

Be part of the Ocean Rockpool Tour at your own pace. Visit as many rockpools as you like, cycle, run, or use your own transport, and receive a commemorative event T-shirt.

Can I participate as part of a team?

Yes! Teams are encouraged. You can create or join a team during registration and fundraise together. 

You can have as many people helping you fundraise as you like – there are no limits!

Is fundrasing mandatory?

No, fundraising is optional and there is no mandatory minimum amount.

How does fundriasing work?

When you register, you’ll receive a personal fundraising page that you can share with friends, family, and colleagues if you choose.

You can:

  • Set a personal fundraising goal
  • Share your link via email and social media
  • Track your progress

General

How fit do I need to be?

Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and feel comfortable walking on coastal terrain to get to some of the rockpools. The pace is supportive and community-focused rather than competitive.

If you have health concerns, please consult your medical professional before participating.

What should I bring?

We recommend:

  • Comfortable walking shoes with good grip
  • Hat and sunscreen
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Personal snacks 
  • Swimmers and towel
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Personal medications if required

Is the event safe?

Safety is a priority. The event team conducts risk assessments and monitors weather and ocean conditions. A safety briefing will be provided before departure.

Participants are required to:

  • Follow safety instructions
  • Stay within designated areas
  • Take personal responsibility for their wellbeing

What happens if the weather is bad?

In the event of unsafe weather or ocean conditions, the event may be postponed, modified, or cancelled. Participants will be notified via email and website updates.

Is the event family friendly?

Yes. We reccomend signing up to the Do It Your Way flow if you are participanting with children. Children must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

Are refunds available?

As this is a fundraising event supporting Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli, registration fees are generally non-refundable.
