Following the recent series of shark attacks — and the tragic incident at North Steyne on Monday evening — Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli is standing up our Community Critical Incident Response Protocol (CCIR).

Our CCIR service provides one-off crisis emotional support and wellbeing checks to community members that have been adversely impacted following a critical incident in our area. We operate from a trauma-informed lens, and the service draws from the principles of Lifeline’s Crisis Support service framework, CARE.

The purpose of the CCIR service is to:

  • provide early intervention and increase emotional safety to those impacted
  • mitigate risk and potential for contagion

Have you or someone you know been impacted?

Lifeline Northern Beaches will be based at North Steyne Surf Club, with experienced crisis supporters and counsellors. Crisis Supporters wearing recognisable Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli T Shirts will be roaming the area providing one-off crisis emotional support and wellbeing checks. The North Steyne Surf Club are very kindly providing some space inside the club in case anyone needs to be provided further support.

We will be at North Steyne Beach (near Manly) at the following times:

  • Wednesday 21st Jan: 10am -2pm
  • Thursday 22nd Jan to Saturday 24th Jan: 10am -4pm
  • Sunday 25th Jan:  8am – 12 noon

Lifeline Northern Beaches, Mosman to Kirribilli have also developed referral pathways for anyone severely impacted, with several specialist trauma-counsellors available to provide services to those impacted.

How your donation makes a difference

Ensures we can be there to listen for anyone who calls seeking support in their toughest moments – day or night.
Brings safety, connection and hope to people right here in our local community struggling to cope.
Helps equip our team of crisis supporters with the vital skills they need to help callers find relief from distress.

Local support, supporting locals.

The impact you make possible.

Lifeline Northern Beaches has been dedicated to delivering vital wellbeing and suicide prevention services in our community since 1968. In that time, we’ve answered over 1 million crisis calls and provided thousands of counselling sessions.

None of this would have been possible without generosity from our local community. When you donate, your impact is felt right here.

Watch the video to hear from volunteers and help seekers at the heart of our work. Their stories of connection and hope highlight the true power of local support.
